Canadian Rockies - Day 4 - Sunrise over the Rolling Hills and the Picturesque Yet Challenging Sulphur Skyline Hike
We woke up in our cozy glamping dome to one of the most breathtaking views imaginable. As we stepped outside, the golden rolling hills stretched endlessly in front of us, glowing in the soft morning light. The crisp fall air, the quiet crackle from the fireplace behind us, and the simple charm of the outdoor seating area made it feel like a dream. From the dome, we watched the sunrise slowly paint the hills in shades of gold and amber - a moment that truly felt magical.
After soaking in the calm morning, we got ready and headed into Hinton town, just a short drive away, to try some local goodies. We stumbled upon a charming little café called The Coffee Grind, filled with locals chatting over freshly baked treats. The aroma of coffee and pastries filled the air. We ordered a small, healthy-looking bagel - much smaller than the usual ones! - along with a bowl of creamy mushroom soup for me and a fresh cup of coffee for Shri. It was the perfect cozy stop to start our day.
Our main plan for the day was to hike the Sulphur Skyline Trail - a steep and picturesque climb known for its panoramic mountain views. The trail started gently but soon turned into a real challenge. The last 300 meters were incredibly steep, testing both our stamina and determination. But as we reached the summit, the effort was instantly forgotten - the sweeping views of the mountains and valleys below were absolutely breathtaking. Just then, a light drizzle began, and a faint rainbow appeared across the peaks - a perfect reward for the climb.
After the long hike, we rewarded ourselves with a few relaxing hours at the Miette Hot Springs, located right at the trailhead. Soaking in the warm water surrounded by misty peaks was pure bliss - the perfect way to unwind after the climb.
Refreshed and rejuvenated, we headed back to Hinton for dinner. This time, we decided to try something different - Korean cuisine - and it turned out to be an absolute delight! The place had plenty of vegetarian options, and every dish was bursting with flavor. We loved the spicy vegetable and tofu soup, crispy fried vegetable dumplings, and the perfectly tangy kimchi. It was warm, comforting, and perfect for a cool fall evening.
With full hearts (and bellies!), we returned to our dome, sat for a while under the quiet night sky, and drifted off to sleep - grateful for yet another beautiful day in the Rockies.
