A Journey Through Sunshine and Serenity: Our Florida Getaway

Embarking on a journey to Fort Lauderdale, our adventure began with a serene stay at the Miami Beach Ocean View Hotel. We reached late to hotel and when we opened our eyes, it was a pleasant welcome by morning sunrays. The first day was a delightful blend of cultures, starting with the vibrant Wynwood Walls neighborhood, where the gelato’s authenticity transported me straight to Italy. Dinner was an elegant affair at a chic restaurant, setting the tone for the days ahead. The second day greeted us with a hearty breakfast at South Beach, followed by an exhilarating bike ride along the Hollywood Beach Boardwalk with Jai. The thrill of surfing was complemented by the taste of fresh fish tacos and the unique Shark Tank drink. Jai really enjoyed surfing and tacos. As the day waned, Häagen-Dazs ice cream for me and frozen yogurt for Jai were the perfect sweet treats before an evening spent basking in the ocean’s embrace. On the third day, We savored  Einstein Miami bagel, a perfect start...

A Luminous Lappish Adventure: Embracing the Arctic Wonders

As the winter chill sets in, the heart yearns for a tale of warmth and wonder. This is the story of our enchanting journey to Finnish Lapland, a land where the auroras dance and the spirit of adventure thrives. The Northern Lights: Nature’s Own Festivity Our odyssey began with a promise to witness the ethereal beauty of the  Northern Lights . Over the course of seven nights, the sky was our canvas for four nights, each display more breathtaking than the last. The auroras, with their vibrant ballet of colors, became the silent narrators of our nights. Helsinki: A Birthday Celebration In Helsinki, we celebrated Shri's birthday, a day marked by history and gastronomy. The old town’s architecture whispered stories of the past, while the majestic churches stood as sentinels of serenity which he is always fascinated by. The highlight was a Michelin-starred Finnish restaurant  Nokka , where each dish was a symphony of local flavors, display of an art and surprisingly all vegetarian!...

Charming Chicago

This third largest city in US is beautiful city along Chicago river and Lake Michigan is made of stunning buildings with world known architecture. Downtown Chicago is home to more than 100 sculptures, mosaics, and paintings  placed in plazas, lobbies, and on the Riverwalk It also has preserved all the history with many great museums. We visited museum of money, museum of illusion, museum of slime, aquarium and other historic buildings like library, Marquette building, rookery building!! Art is in every corner of a city and reminds you the great city of Florence.  Whole city is bike friendly with bike paths everywhere even in the heart of the city and big famous scenic bike route along Lake Michigan with great beach pit stops.Biking and Segway was fun to do activity along the pristine blue water! How can I forget the famous deep dish Pizza! It’s just amazing! Even the other crusts tastes different and very yummy! One of unique place is Nutella cafe where everyone is made...

Maine Trip - July 2023

It was a time to visit Maine again, it was third time. Summer is the best time to visit this state and enjoy the water and cold beer. Fresh Seafood is always good in any season here. We rented a beach house from our past experiences of super convenience to enjoy the sand and sea. Coffee with the view! This beach was super cool with huge palm size shells, big waves and very close to a creek where we enjoyed the backwater to the fullest including Baba. The house was in also close proximity with Portland and we could enjoy the very famous breweries, city vibes and amazingly beautiful water side parks. First two days were raining and it worked out very good for us, being cozy in the little condo after Shri's long trip from India and my crazy schedule during his absence. Jai enjoyed the lobster rolls and Ram enjoyed the local burger. Third day kids went to Children's museum while we there spent time at brewery as per Jai's suggestion and after that roamed around the waterside p...

Puerto Rico - Day 5

My long awaited trip to Culebra was planned today. We took a ferry from Ceiba.  We got a rental car and first stop was one of the top 10 beaches in the world, the Flamenco beach! It was truly beautiful. Water colour was so so good…and beach was surrounded by mountains! After dipping in water there second stop was Tamarino beach. On the way saw many tamarind trees and got to pick up some! Tasted fresh tamarind after many years. Also saw toor shenga someone growing in their yard.  Tamarino beach we did snorkelling, it was great to see tons of colourful fishes in their original habitation. Jai went in deep water without snorkel. He did great job of swimming. He saw a turtle too, it was bounds for him.  We ate at a very fancy taco place in Culebra. I had tamarind margarita, made from local tamarind. Shri’s local passion fruit beer was also tasty. Food was good too, ended with rose and passion fruit ice cream! Took last ferry to come back! Puerto Rico - Day 4

Today we woke up and directly went to beach walk. It was our breakfast our day, we went to a very fancy place on Isla Verde. Food was unique and tasty! Walk to castle through stunning old San Juan  Bobba is must! We got ready and headed to castle visits. Both the castles in old San Juan are along ocean, built by local Indian people and then taken over by Spanish people. They are huge and in good space. Views and structure is breathtaking! We booked an underwater walking tour ( introductory scuba) so we went there in the afternoon. I was scared in the beginning but did it later in second round. They give bread in your hand so lots of fishes come near you, it was amazing experience. The resort where it was located was very beautiful! We ended our day by exploring Condado area and eating Asian food! Again the food was great! Day 5 link http://ourweekendsdiary.blogspot.com/2023/02/puerto-rico-day-5.html
